Incoloy 800 Stud Bolts

ASME B18.31.2ASTM B408

Incoloy 800 stud bolts pair an iron-nickel-chromium alloy with double-ended closure for retort, exchanger, and radiant-tube joints that need controlled tensioning and repeated disassembly. The alloy resists oxidation and carburization across both stud ends.

Heat Treatment

Annealed

Annealing reduces work hardening and restores ductility for the specified supplied condition.

What we can make in Alloy 800

Fully threaded

Two nuts clamp the flange or cover; usable thread length spans the assembled grip.

Double-end

A plain centre spans the grip, with a threaded portion at each end for the nuts.

tap endnut end

Tap-end

One end engages a tapped casing; the exposed end accepts the cover nut.

Manufacturing route

CNC machining suits samples and special end forms. Repeat lots use cut-to-length stock with rolling or cutting selected for the ordered thread and material condition.

Heat treatment & final condition

The ordered annealed or solution-treated state is retained in the lot record; forming and machining do not replace the specified thermal condition.

Finished geometry

End lengths, runout and effective thread engagement are checked separately from overall length; tap ends are gauged to their own fit requirement.

Retort & muffle covers

Incoloy 800 Stud Bolts

Incoloy 800 studs give retort accessory covers fixed mounting points in a heat-resistant alloy. The nuts can be removed while the studs remain installed, simplifying repeat access. Resistance to oxidation and carburization is useful at exposed thread ends and shanks near the furnace atmosphere.

Connection requirements
  • Cover joint thickness, gasket type, and required preload
  • Stud diameter, overall length, and nut engagement at each end
  • Oxidising/carburizing duty, cycling history, and heat-number certification

Heat-exchanger & reactor covers

Incoloy 800 Stud Bolts

800 studs can secure hot equipment accessories where the required load fits their specified condition. On a tapped mounting arrangement, the studs stay in the equipment while the cover and nuts are removed. This suits repeated access to moderately loaded, heat-exposed attachments.

Connection requirements
  • Cover joint thickness, gasket type, and required preload
  • Stud diameter, overall length, and nut engagement at each end
  • Oxidising/carburizing duty, cycling history, and heat-number certification

Radiant tubes & circulation fans

Incoloy 800 Stud Bolts

Incoloy 800 studs can anchor radiant-tube support brackets and furnace fan accessories in hot atmospheres. The accessible threaded end accepts nuts for adjustment and removal. Where the support carries a sustained load at high temperature, the creep-strength difference between 800 and 800H becomes a practical selection issue.

  • Support joint thickness, gasket type, and required preload
  • Stud diameter, overall length, and nut engagement at each end

Incoloy 800 material data

Incoloy 800H Stud Bolts

A hot cover can keep its studs in tension for months between shutdowns. Incoloy 800H studs address that sustained load with the controlled-carbon, coarse-grain condition that improves creep and rupture strength over Incoloy 800. They belong in a stud-and-nut assembly designed for the operating temperature and long-duration load, with accessible nuts for cover removal.

Inconel 601 Stud Bolts

Inconel 601 studs provide fixed, oxidation-resistant mounting points for furnace covers, lining retainers and hot-side supports. Nuts can be removed while the stud stays installed. Projection and stand-off length help place the accessible nut away from the hot attachment point.

A-286 Stud Bolts

Exhaust manifolds can be removed from the accessible nut side while body-mounted A-286 studs stay installed. The alloy supplies elevated-temperature strength to carry the flange load. Fixed studs also help locate the gasket and manifold during reassembly, making this a practical form for repeatedly serviced hot joints.

Questions about 800 stud bolts & threaded rods

Does changing the stud alloy also change the nut selection?

The nut needs compatible internal threads, sufficient engaged height and a specified material condition. Select lubricant or surface treatment with the stud–nut pair, because assembly friction affects the preload obtained from tightening.
