Stainless Steel 310H Stud Bolts
ASME B18.31.2
Stainless Steel 310H stud bolts bring controlled-carbon stainless performance for sustained hot loading to flange and cover joints. The stud condition, mating nuts and end form determine how the assembly carries and retains clamp load.

What we can make in Stainless Steel 310H
Fully threaded
Two nuts clamp the flange or cover; usable thread length spans the assembled grip.
Double-end
A plain centre spans the grip, with a threaded portion at each end for the nuts.
Tap-end
One end engages a tapped casing; the exposed end accepts the cover nut.

Manufacturing route
CNC machining suits samples and special end forms. Repeat lots use cut-to-length stock with rolling or cutting selected for the ordered thread and material condition.
Heat treatment & final condition
The ordered annealed or solution-treated state is retained in the lot record; forming and machining do not replace the specified thermal condition.
Finished geometry
End lengths, runout and effective thread engagement are checked separately from overall length; tap ends are gauged to their own fit requirement.
Where 310H fits — and what matters

Furnaces & Heat Treatment
Retort and furnace-access coversStainless Steel 310H stud bolts & threaded rods clamp retort and furnace-access covers with nuts on the exposed ends, keeping the stud in place when a cover is removed. Hot dwell, thermal expansion and repeated furnace cycles set the working load.

Power & Turbines
Hot-gas access covers and inspection closuresStainless Steel 310H stud bolts & threaded rods clamp hot-gas access covers and inspection closures with nuts on the exposed ends, keeping the stud in place when a cover is removed. Hot dwell and start-stop expansion act on the supported or moving component.

Chemical Processing
Reformer access covers and hot-gas inspection closuresStainless Steel 310H stud bolts & threaded rods clamp reformer access covers and hot-gas inspection closures with nuts on the exposed ends, keeping the stud in place when a cover is removed. These parts work in the heated equipment zone, where sustained loading and thermal expansion govern their section and clearance.
Same stud. Different material priorities.
Stainless Steel 310H material dataIncoloy 800HT
Tightly controlled carbon and Al + Ti for creep duty.
- Connection priority
- Stud tension and clamp-load retention
- N08811 material control
- 800HT tightens the 800-family chemistry around creep performance. Its solution-treated, coarse-grain condition and N08811 identity should remain linked through forming and final acceptance. At the exposed thread roots and nut-bearing faces, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.
Inconel 718
Precipitation-hardened strength for compact, highly loaded connections.
- Connection priority
- Stud tension and clamp-load retention
- Strength after aging
- Machine-stock properties and final aged properties describe different states. The final heat-treatment lot and mechanical results establish the strength available in the installed part. At the exposed thread roots and nut-bearing faces, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.
A-286
Aged iron–nickel alloy strength for hot bolting.
- Connection priority
- Stud tension and clamp-load retention
- Grade 660 class
- An ASTM A453 Grade 660 order includes its class and corresponding processing requirements. The alloy name A-286 alone does not identify that acceptance condition. At the exposed thread roots and nut-bearing faces, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.

Questions about 310H stud bolts & threaded rods
Does changing the stud alloy also change the nut selection?
The nut needs compatible internal threads, sufficient engaged height and a specified material condition. Select lubricant or surface treatment with the stud–nut pair, because assembly friction affects the preload obtained from tightening.
