Standards & threads

Dimensions · metricISO 4032Regular hex nut · style 1 · coarse pitch

Nut height, width across flats/corners, chamfers and dimensional tolerances. ISO 4032:2023 covers steel and stainless steel; for nickel and other nonferrous alloys, specify its geometry on the drawing with separate material and nut requirements. Fine-pitch geometry must be specified separately.

Dimensions · inchASME B18.2.2Hex nut geometry · inch series

Select the regular hex-nut pattern and nominal size. Controls height, across flats/corners, chamfers and bearing-face geometry. Heavy-hex and other nut patterns have separate tables.

Threads · metricISO 261 / ISO 965-1Metric pitch series & internal-thread tolerances

Specify nominal diameter, pitch and internal-thread tolerance class, for example M12 × 1.75–6H. Fine pitch must be stated explicitly.

Threads · UNC / UNFASME B1.1Unified inch · internal thread

Specify diameter, TPI, series and internal-thread class, for example 1/2-13 UNC-2B. Match the mating bolt or stud; UNC and UNF are different pitches.

Simplified right-hand internal thread. No tolerance, fit or standard compliance is simulated.

Unedited m and s use illustrative proportions (m ≈ 0.83d, s = 1.5d), not standard-table values. Change them if specified on your drawing.

Quality documents

Material certificate

MTC · EN 10204 3.1 included

Heat number traceability

Every delivery traceable by heat number

Mechanical testing

Included with every delivery

Thread inspection

GO / NO-GO gauging · sampled inspection

Product-specific review: internal thread, nut height, width across flats and mating bolt or stud.

Methods, sampling and acceptance criteria follow the agreed specification. PMI, third-party inspection and additional records are agreed separately.

Before production and at delivery

During quotation, a redacted certificate from a previous order can show the document format and recorded tests. It is a historical example, not certification of this product or a new order. Shipment documents must correspond to the material and batch actually supplied.

Start with a drawing, specification or written requirement; a drawing is not needed for an initial enquiry. For this product, include internal thread, nut height, width across flats and mating bolt or stud along with the alloy grade, condition and quantity. BYBOLT clarifies open requirements with you before confirming the quotation and arranging production. Any change to an agreed material or specification requires your approval.

Technical help

What should I send for a nut quotation?

Send a drawing and quantity, or the thread size, material and nut standard. Add height and across flats only when your drawing specifies them.

Can these nuts be matched to bolts or studs?

Send the mating part’s thread designation and grade. We review thread compatibility and nut strength together; matching diameter alone is not enough.

What inspection is included?

Every delivery includes an EN 10204 3.1 MTC, heat-number traceability and mechanical testing. Thread inspection includes sampled GO / NO-GO gauging. Include any additional test or reporting requirements in your enquiry.
