What is Incoloy 800H and its applications?
Incoloy 800H (UNS N08810) is a controlled-carbon iron-nickel-chromium alloy processed for creep and rupture strength. Published applications include reforming equipment, furnace parts and high-temperature heat exchangers.
- Hydrocarbon processing: Reformer and cracking equipment.
- Industrial furnaces: Radiant tubes, muffles and fixtures.
- Heat exchangers: Components requiring long-term hot-service properties.

Engineering Application & Selection Guide
Controlled carbon and high-temperature annealing produce the grain structure used to develop its creep properties. Compliance requires the relevant chemistry, thermal processing and grain-size requirements, not simply an 800-family composition.
- Incoloy 800H stud bolts — For heated process flanges, request the specified condition and grain-size evidence with the material records.
- Incoloy 800H hex bolts — For furnace supports, include differential movement, thermal gradients and load duration in the joint review.
- Incoloy 800H socket head cap screws — For restricted-access fixtures, evaluate stress relaxation before defining installation preload.
Compare 800H and 800HT against the actual specification and service duty. Standard 800 cannot automatically substitute for 800H; the reverse also requires checking fabrication and property requirements.

Specify the material and final condition
800, 800H and 800HT have distinct chemistry and condition requirements.
Material forms in the technical reference: Round bar · Flat bar · Wire · Plate · Sheet · Strip · Pipe & tube · Forging stock · Hexagon & sections.
Define the finished-part acceptance
Include the material or bolting specification, required final condition, dimensions and quantity. State the service medium, temperature and loading where known. Agree the required tests, inspection coverage and acceptance criteria for the finished part.
Start with the information you have
