What is Inconel 601 and its applications?
Inconel 601 (UNS N06601) is a nickel-chromium-iron alloy with an aluminum addition that improves oxidation resistance. It is used in thermal-processing equipment, chemical plant and power-generation hardware.
- Industrial heating: Baskets, trays, radiant tubes and flame shields.
- Chemical processing: Process heaters and catalyst grid supports.
- Power generation: Superheater supports and ash-handling components.

Engineering Application & Selection Guide
Chromium and aluminum support a protective oxide scale. This oxidation behavior is distinct from precipitation strengthening and does not establish an allowable stress or service temperature for a threaded joint.
- Inconel 601 stud bolts — For catalyst supports, establish creep and relaxation requirements at the threaded section.
- Inconel 601 hex bolts — For furnace fixtures, check thermal expansion and the final material condition.
- Inconel 601 custom fasteners — For custom anchors, show the attachment details and anticipated thermal movement.
Compare 601 and 800H according to the gas atmosphere, thermal cycling and sustained-load requirements. Select material condition and joint geometry independently of a headline oxidation-temperature figure.

Specify the material and final condition
Oxidation resistance does not define the allowable load.
Material forms in the technical reference: Round bar · Flat bar · Wire · Plate · Sheet · Strip · Pipe & tube · Forging stock · Hexagon & sections.
Define the finished-part acceptance
Include the material or bolting specification, required final condition, dimensions and quantity. State the service medium, temperature and loading where known. Agree the required tests, inspection coverage and acceptance criteria for the finished part.
Start with the information you have
Send a drawing or share the product form and dimensions. Identify any undecided requirements for review rather than copying a typical property value into the purchase order.
