UNS N08800
What is Incoloy 800 and its applications?
Incoloy 800 (UNS N08800) is an iron-nickel-chromium alloy used in furnace equipment, petrochemical heating systems and electrical heating-element sheaths. Its selection combines resistance to hot-gas corrosion with the required mechanical performance.
- Industrial furnaces: Retorts, supports and heat-processing components.
- Petrochemical heating: Cracker tubes, pigtails and headers.
- Electrical heating: Sheathing and associated thermal hardware.

Engineering Application & Selection Guide
Its austenitic matrix and chromium-nickel chemistry support heat resistance. Incoloy 800 is not specified as a conventional age-hardening alloy; the applicable delivery and thermal condition must still be defined.
- Incoloy 800 hex bolts — For furnace covers, calculate bolt temperature and thermal movement rather than relying on furnace air temperature.
- Incoloy 800 stud bolts — For heated flanges, establish the required condition and temperature-dependent load capacity.
- Incoloy 800 socket head cap screws — For removable thermal fixtures, agree thread clearance and a lubricant compatible with the exposure.
Compare 800, 800H and 800HT where sustained loading makes creep important. There is no universal temperature at which every 800 joint must be upgraded. Apply the actual product specification, design stress and service duration.

Procurement and application guide
Specify the material and final condition
800, 800H and 800HT have distinct chemistry and condition requirements.
Material forms in the technical reference: Round bar · Flat bar · Wire · Plate · Sheet · Strip · Pipe & tube · Forging stock · Hexagon & sections.
Define the finished-part acceptance
Include the material or bolting specification, required final condition, dimensions and quantity. State the service medium, temperature and loading where known. Agree the required tests, inspection coverage and acceptance criteria for the finished part.
Start with the information you have
Send a drawing or share the product form and dimensions. Identify any undecided requirements for review rather than copying a typical property value into the purchase order.
