Fasteners & Material Data
UNS N09925
What is Incoloy 925 and its applications?
Incoloy 925 (UNS N09925) is an age-hardenable nickel-iron-chromium alloy with molybdenum, copper, titanium and aluminum. Published uses include downhole and surface gas-well components, marine hardware and fasteners.
- Gas-well equipment: Valves, hangers, tool joints and packer components.
- Marine equipment: Shafting and corrosion-exposed mechanical hardware.
- Fasteners: Connections requiring a specified high-strength condition.

Engineering Application & Selection Guide
Titanium and aluminum enable precipitation strengthening during heat treatment. Compare strength and corrosion performance for the selected condition, product form and processing route rather than transferring the properties of Incoloy 825.
- Incoloy 925 stud bolts — For wellhead connections, state heat treatment, hardness, fluid chemistry and the governing sour-service requirements.
- Incoloy 925 hex bolts — For marine joints, review load capacity and environmental cracking before reducing fastener size.
- Incoloy 925 socket head cap screws — For downhole assemblies, define thread-root geometry and any fatigue or toughness acceptance requirements.
Use the 825 and 925 material comparison to separate an age-hardenable selection from a solid-solution alternative. Sour-service acceptance depends on the applicable material restrictions and actual environment, not the grade name alone.
