Monel K-500 Stud Bolts
ASME B18.31.2 · DIN 976-1ASTM B865 — rod / bar
Monel K-500 stud bolts pair an age-hardened nickel-copper alloy with double-ended closure for pump and marine flange joints that need controlled tensioning and repeated disassembly. Age hardening raises strength above Monel 400 while retaining the nickel-copper alloy’s seawater corrosion resistance.

What we can make in Monel K-500
Forms & dimension guideFully threaded
Two nuts clamp the flange or cover; usable thread length spans the assembled grip.
Double-end
A plain centre spans the grip, with a threaded portion at each end for the nuts.
Tap-end
One end engages a tapped casing; the exposed end accepts the cover nut.

- Manufacturing
- Cut bar, CNC-finish ends and any grip features; roll or cut the specified threads. Studs do not require a headed-bolt upsetting operation.
- Final condition
- Aging develops strength; the incoming stock condition and finished-part hardness are recorded together.

Where K-500 fits — and what matters

Split-case & multistage pump casings
Monel K-500 Stud BoltsAge-hardened K-500 studs suit seawater-pump casings that need high-strength nickel-copper fastening within an existing hole pattern. Where studs engage tapped casing holes, they can stay installed during cover removal, limiting repeated disturbance of those holes at overhaul.
Connection requirements
- Casing flange thickness, gasket type, and required preload
- Stud diameter, overall length, and nut engagement at each end
- Seawater exposure, age-hardened condition, and heat-number certification

Marine valve bonnets
Monel K-500 Stud BoltsBonnet studs guide the cover into position and leave a nut accessible above it. In age-hardened K-500, that arrangement suits marine valves needing stronger nickel-copper bolting within an existing drilling pattern. Stud projection matters here because the nut, exposed threads and maintenance tooling all occupy the same small space.
Connection requirements
- Bonnet joint thickness, gasket type, and required preload
- Stud diameter, overall length, and tensioning clearance at each end
- Chloride exposure, age-hardened condition, and heat-number certification

Subsea & ROV connections
Monel K-500 Stud BoltsFor a subsea clamp specified with K-500 studs, the aged condition and cathodic-protection exposure need to be assessed with the sustained stud load. K-500 can suffer hydrogen-assisted cracking under cathodic polarization, making this a condition-specific choice for the loaded connection.
Connection requirements
- Connection flange rating, gasket type, and required preload
- Stud diameter, overall length, and nut engagement at each end
- Seawater exposure, access constraints, and heat-number certification
Same stud. Different material priorities.
Monel K-500 material dataInconel 625 Stud Bolts
Offshore flanges and marine valve bonnets put the stud threads, nut seats and exposed shank in different pockets of chloride exposure. Inconel 625 studs bring pitting and crevice-corrosion resistance to that loaded connection. On tapped-stud bonnets, crews can remove the nuts and cover while leaving the studs installed in the valve body.
Inconel 718 Stud Bolts
Inconel 718 studs carry high tensile loads in turbine casings and hot valve bonnets where the hole pattern limits fastener size. Precipitation hardening supplies strength, and removable nuts provide service access. Sour-gas connections additionally require the prescribed heat-treatment and hardness condition.
Hastelloy C-276 Stud Bolts
Hastelloy C-276 studs suit repeatedly opened reactor, scrubber and acid-exchanger covers exposed to corrosive deposits or process leakage. The alloy protects the loaded stud surfaces in compatible mixed chemical media. Removable nuts provide access while body-mounted studs can remain installed.

When is K-500 worth considering over Monel 400?
K-500 is age hardenable and can meet higher strength needs. The choice also depends on the marine exposure, hardness and any cathodic-protection or hydrogen-related project requirements; it is not simply a stronger interchangeable 400.
