Incoloy 825 Stud Bolts

ASME B18.31.2ASTM B425

Incoloy 825 stud bolts serve acid-process flanges and removable equipment covers exposed to corrosive liquid or condensate. Full-thread and double-end forms accommodate through-flanges or tapped housings, with length and end engagement matched to the actual connection.

Heat Treatment

Annealed

The specified anneal restores ductility and the corrosion-resistant supplied condition after hot or cold working.

What we can make in Alloy 825

Fully threaded

Two nuts clamp the flange or cover; usable thread length spans the assembled grip.

Double-end

A plain centre spans the grip, with a threaded portion at each end for the nuts.

tap endnut end

Tap-end

One end engages a tapped casing; the exposed end accepts the cover nut.

Manufacturing route

CNC machining suits samples and special end forms. Repeat lots use cut-to-length stock with rolling or cutting selected for the ordered thread and material condition.

Heat treatment & final condition

The final annealed or specified strengthened condition is linked to the lot; an aging treatment is not assumed for a solid-solution alloy.

Finished geometry

End lengths, runout and effective thread engagement are checked separately from overall length; tap ends are gauged to their own fit requirement.

Where 825 fits — and what matters

Vertical reactor vessel with a bolted top flange, circular side manway and surrounding access platforms.

Reactor vessel & manway flanges

Incoloy 825 Stud Bolts

825 studs suit reactor manways where compatible acid residue reaches the exposed threads. A through-flange uses nuts at both ends; a tapped-body arrangement can leave the vessel-side end installed while the cover is removed. That distinction sets the stud length and engagement needed for repeated manway servicing.

Connection requirements
  • Manway flange or tapped-hole arrangement
  • Acid concentration at the joint
  • Stud length basis and end engagement
Chemical Processing
Shell-and-tube heat exchanger with an exposed tubesheet and removed end cover in a maintenance workshop.

Acid heat exchangers & condensers

Incoloy 825 Stud Bolts

On an acid-exchanger channel head, 825 studs provide corrosion-resistant fastening points near gasket-edge leaks and cleaning residues. They are candidates for compatible sulfuric- or phosphoric-acid duty, with stud strength specified for the cover load. The assembled cover, gasket, washers and nuts determine the required length.

Connection requirements
  • Channel-cover stack and gasket
  • Nut and washer heights
  • Operating and cleaning solutions
Chemical Processing

Packing gland followers & eyebolts

Incoloy 825 Stud Bolts

Packing gland followers use paired studs to draw the follower down evenly as packing is adjusted. Incoloy 825 studs are useful when acid leakage reaches this exposed hardware. The usable thread length needs to cover the follower’s adjustment travel, while both stud ends must fit the pump or valve body.

Connection requirements
  • Follower travel and spacing
  • Body thread size and engagement
  • Packing leakage chemistry

Hastelloy C-276 Stud Bolts

Hastelloy C-276 studs suit repeatedly opened reactor, scrubber and acid-exchanger covers exposed to corrosive deposits or process leakage. The alloy protects the loaded stud surfaces in compatible mixed chemical media. Removable nuts provide access while body-mounted studs can remain installed.

Inconel 625 Stud Bolts

Offshore flanges and marine valve bonnets put the stud threads, nut seats and exposed shank in different pockets of chloride exposure. Inconel 625 studs bring pitting and crevice-corrosion resistance to that loaded connection. On tapped-stud bonnets, crews can remove the nuts and cover while leaving the studs installed in the valve body.

254 SMO Stud Bolts

254 SMO studs retain seawater-pump and bleach-plant covers exposed to chloride-bearing residues. The six-moly austenitic alloy offers improved localized-corrosion resistance over 316. Removable nuts permit servicing, while defined housing engagement and nut-end projection suit double-end cover studs.

Questions about 825 stud bolts & threaded rods

Does changing the stud alloy also change the nut selection?

The nut needs compatible internal threads, sufficient engaged height and a specified material condition. Select lubricant or surface treatment with the stud–nut pair, because assembly friction affects the preload obtained from tightening.
