Inconel 718 Hex Nuts
ISO 4032ASTM B637
Inconel 718 hex nuts pair a precipitation-hardened nickel-chromium alloy with a standard-height mating nut for hot turbine and steam bolt systems. Paired with matching 718 bolts and studs, they support full thread engagement within standard height.

What we can make in Alloy 718
Regular hex
Use on equipment covers and mounting brackets with standard socket access. The compact wrenching envelope is useful where adjacent fasteners or housing walls restrict tool clearance.
Heavy hex
Use on flange-bolting sets and pressure-equipment joints calling for a heavy-hex pattern. The wider bearing footprint and larger wrench size require more seat area and socket clearance than a regular hex nut.
Thin hex
Use in restricted axial spaces or as part of a specified two-nut locking arrangement. Reduced thread engagement means a thin nut is not a direct load-capacity replacement for a full-height nut.

Manufacturing route
Small lots use machined blanks. Volume nut blanks use a forming route compatible with the alloy before machining the bore and tapping.
Heat treatment & final condition
Solution treatment and the specified aging condition are recorded against the production lot; final dimensions are checked after thermal processing.
Finished geometry
Internal thread gauging, usable engagement and bearing-face alignment are checked after final processing.
Where 718 fits — and what matters

High-pressure steam valve bonnets
Inconel 718 Hex NutsA regular hex 718 nut can fit a bonnet connection where nearby cast features restrict a heavy hex pattern. It provides a precipitation-hardened material option for the specified hot-service stud load. The smaller nut footprint makes the bonnet's bearing face and the required nut proof load particularly relevant.
Connection requirements
- Mating stud diameter, thread form, and thread class
- Nut height, width across flats, and bearing-face condition required
- Temperature range, cycling duty, and age-hardened condition certification

Exhaust manifolds & expansion bellows
Inconel 718 Hex NutsRegular 718 nuts fit closely spaced exhaust-flange studs when the connection needs precipitation-hardened strength at its operating temperature. Their smaller envelope can leave a usable socket path beside manifold branches or bellows hardware. Specify the nut capacity for the hot stud load.
Connection requirements
- Mating bolt diameter, thread form, and thread class
- Nut height, width across flats, and bearing-face condition required
- Temperature range, vibration duty, and age-hardened condition certification

Generator & rotor tie-bolt assemblies
Inconel 718 Hex NutsIn tie-bolt end connections with limited radial clearance, a regular hex 718 nut may fit where a heavy pattern does not. Its attraction is high material strength in a compact envelope. Rotor applications also require the actual drawing's seating, balance and retention features rather than a generic nut substitution.

Same hex nut. Different material priorities.
Inconel 718 material dataA-286 Hex Nuts
A-286 hex nuts fit compact exhaust and hot-cover connections where a heavy pattern would crowd nearby pipework. Elevated-temperature strength supports the loaded internal threads. On closely spaced manifold studs, the regular nut leaves room to reach each fastening point during servicing.
Inconel X-750 Hex Nuts
Inconel X-750 hex nuts fit compact exhaust supports, hot covers and selected hanger connections. Precipitation-hardened properties address the hot load, with treatment chosen for temperature and duration. The regular pattern leaves room for tooling around closely spaced brackets and rods.
Inconel 625 Hex Nuts
Inconel 625 hex nuts suit compact offshore, marine-bonnet and FGD connections exposed to wet chlorides. The alloy resists localized corrosion at internal threads and sheltered seating faces. A regular pattern leaves more tooling clearance than a heavy nut on the same nominal thread.

Questions about 718 hex nuts
Does a matching UNS make the stud and nut a matched set?
Matching chemistry addresses only one part of the order. Nut strength, effective engagement, internal thread fit and surface friction must also suit the stud and assembly tightening method.
