Inconel 601 Hex Nuts
ISO 4032ASTM B166
Inconel 601 hex nuts pair a solid-solution nickel-chromium alloy with a standard-height mating nut for furnace bolt and stud systems. Paired with matching 601 bolts and studs, they distribute bearing load and support full thread engagement.

What we can make in Alloy 601
Regular hex
Use on equipment covers and mounting brackets with standard socket access. The compact wrenching envelope is useful where adjacent fasteners or housing walls restrict tool clearance.
Heavy hex
Use on flange-bolting sets and pressure-equipment joints calling for a heavy-hex pattern. The wider bearing footprint and larger wrench size require more seat area and socket clearance than a regular hex nut.
Thin hex
Use in restricted axial spaces or as part of a specified two-nut locking arrangement. Reduced thread engagement means a thin nut is not a direct load-capacity replacement for a full-height nut.

Manufacturing route
Small lots use machined blanks. Volume nut blanks use a forming route compatible with the alloy before machining the bore and tapping.
Heat treatment & final condition
The ordered annealed or solution-treated state is retained in the lot record; forming and machining do not replace the specified thermal condition.
Finished geometry
Internal thread gauging, usable engagement and bearing-face alignment are checked after final processing.
Where 601 fits — and what matters

Retort & muffle covers
Inconel 601 Hex NutsRegular hex Inconel 601 nuts suit cover studs with limited space between the fastener and retort hardware. They provide an oxidation-resistant nut to accompany the hot-side stud. Their smaller pattern can ease access around closely spaced attachments, with the required bearing area established by the cover design.
Connection requirements
- Mating stud diameter, thread form, and thread class
- Nut height, width across flats, and bearing-face condition required
- Temperature range, cycling duty, and heat-number certification

Carburizing & stack fixtures
Inconel 601 Hex NutsOn heat-treatment stacks, regular hex 601 nuts secure spacers, locating bars and fixture components without a heavy nut's footprint. The alloy is useful in oxidizing and carburizing furnace atmospheres. This is a practical choice for compact fixture connections that are rearranged or replaced during tooling maintenance.
Connection requirements
- Mating bolt diameter, thread form, and thread class
- Nut height, width across flats, and bearing-face condition required
- Carburizing exposure, temperature range, and heat-number certification

Heat shields & furnace linings
Inconel 601 Hex NutsInconel 601 nuts can retain heat shields and lining-support hardware where the nut is exposed to hot air or combustion products. Their oxidation resistance supports the fastening surface through thermal cycling. A compact hex pattern helps around small brackets and retainers, while expansion clearance is provided by the attachment design.
Connection requirements
- Mating stud diameter, thread form, and thread class
- Nut height, width across flats, and bearing-face condition required
- Temperature range, cycling duty, and heat-number certification
Same hex nut. Different material priorities.
Inconel 601 material dataInconel 600 Hex Nuts
Inconel 600 hex nuts combine a compact pattern with resistance to furnace oxidation and selected hot-caustic environments. They suit closely spaced cover studs and auxiliary brackets. Matching the nut to the mating fastener places corrosion-resistant material on both sides of the threaded connection.
Incoloy 800H Hex Nuts
Incoloy 800H hex nuts fit compact hot supports and selected cover connections governed by sustained loading. Controlled carbon and grain condition distinguish them from general heat-resistant Incoloy 800 nuts. Regular dimensions preserve tooling access around hanger rods and crowded brackets.
Nimonic 75 Hex Nuts
Nimonic 75 hex nuts suit compact furnace accessories where oxidation resistance and moderate strength meet the connection requirements. Regular dimensions leave clearance around retort studs and fixture spacers. They provide heat-resistant internal threads without a heavy nut's larger footprint.

Questions about 601 hex nuts
Does a matching UNS make the stud and nut a matched set?
Matching chemistry addresses only one part of the order. Nut strength, effective engagement, internal thread fit and surface friction must also suit the stud and assembly tightening method.
