Stainless Steel 310H Hex head bolts
ISO 4014
Stainless Steel 310H hex bolts combine an accessible external drive with controlled-carbon stainless performance for sustained hot loading. The grip, head-bearing pattern and final material condition define the joint more precisely than the thread diameter alone.

What we can make in Stainless Steel 310H
Hex bolt
Use in through-bolted brackets, structural connections and equipment joints specified to a bolt pattern. Confirm the head and body dimensions against that pattern when replacing an inch hex head cap screw.
Hex head cap screw
Use where an inch drawing calls for closer body tolerances and a washer-faced head. The finished bearing face supports seating on machined equipment surfaces; match the cap-screw dimensions rather than ordering by thread size alone.
Partial or full thread
Partial thread keeps the thread runout out of a defined plain grip through the joint. Full thread accommodates short grips and varying stack thicknesses without running the nut into an unthreaded shank.

Manufacturing route
CNC machining suits samples and small lots. Cold heading or hot forging is selected for volume production according to alloy formability, head section and size.
Heat treatment & final condition
The ordered annealed or solution-treated state is retained in the lot record; forming and machining do not replace the specified thermal condition.
Finished geometry
Head geometry, bearing face, shank and thread fit are checked after the final machining and thermal operations.
Where 310H fits — and what matters

Furnaces & Heat Treatment
Heat-treatment fixturesStainless Steel 310H hex head bolts secure heat-treatment fixtures where an external wrench can reach the head. Shank length places the threads outside a bearing or shear plane where the drawing requires it. Hot dwell, thermal expansion and repeated furnace cycles set the working load.

Power & Turbines
Boiler-duct supports and hot auxiliary bracketsStainless Steel 310H hex head bolts secure boiler-duct supports and hot auxiliary brackets where an external wrench can reach the head. Shank length places the threads outside a bearing or shear plane where the drawing requires it. Hot dwell and start-stop expansion act on the supported or moving component.

Chemical Processing
Reformer tube-support and heater fixturesStainless Steel 310H hex head bolts secure reformer tube-support and heater fixtures where an external wrench can reach the head. Shank length places the threads outside a bearing or shear plane where the drawing requires it. These parts work in the heated equipment zone, where sustained loading and thermal expansion govern their section and clearance.
Same hex bolt. Different material priorities.
Stainless Steel 310H material dataIncoloy 800HT
Tightly controlled carbon and Al + Ti for creep duty.
- Connection priority
- Bolt tension and bearing pressure under the hex head
- N08811 material control
- 800HT tightens the 800-family chemistry around creep performance. Its solution-treated, coarse-grain condition and N08811 identity should remain linked through forming and final acceptance. At the head seat, washer interface and first engaged threads, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.
Inconel 718
Precipitation-hardened strength for compact, highly loaded connections.
- Connection priority
- Bolt tension and bearing pressure under the hex head
- Strength after aging
- Machine-stock properties and final aged properties describe different states. The final heat-treatment lot and mechanical results establish the strength available in the installed part. At the head seat, washer interface and first engaged threads, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.
A-286
Aged iron–nickel alloy strength for hot bolting.
- Connection priority
- Bolt tension and bearing pressure under the hex head
- Grade 660 class
- An ASTM A453 Grade 660 order includes its class and corresponding processing requirements. The alloy name A-286 alone does not identify that acceptance condition. At the head seat, washer interface and first engaged threads, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.

Questions about 310H hex head bolts
Is a hex bolt interchangeable with a hex head cap screw?
The nominal thread alone does not settle the fit. Check the head bearing face, body tolerance and shank length against the joint drawing, particularly where the shank locates the parts or passes through a close hole.
