Hastelloy B-2 Socket Head Cap Screws
ISO 4762
Hastelloy B-2 socket head cap screws pair a nickel-molybdenum alloy with compact tapped assemblies for pump trim, pickling hardware, and exchanger covers in reducing-acid service. The alloy resists reducing-acid attack in sheltered tapped holes.

What we can make in Hastelloy B-2
Partial thread
Use where a plain grip must span the clamped components. Match the under-head length and thread length so the screw tightens the stack before its thread runout reaches the tapped hole.
Full thread
Use for shorter component stacks and varied tapped-hole depths. The longer usable thread offers adjustment, while the screw end must clear the bottom of a blind hole.

Manufacturing route
CNC machining suits samples and small lots. Cold heading or hot forging is selected for volume production according to alloy formability, head section and size.
Heat treatment & final condition
The final annealed or specified strengthened condition is linked to the lot; an aging treatment is not assumed for a solid-solution alloy.
Finished geometry
Head geometry, bearing face, shank and thread fit are checked after the final machining and thermal operations.
Where B-2 fits — and what matters

Chemical transfer pump casings
Hastelloy B-2 Socket Head Cap ScrewsSmall seal-housing and cover screws on reducing-acid pumps may be difficult to reach around adjacent fittings. B-2 socket screws provide axial tool access and corrosion resistance to compatible reducing acids. That combination is useful at compact fastening points close to process leaks and maintenance washdown.
Connection requirements
- Tapped-hole size, thread form, and effective engagement depth
- Head diameter, head height, and counterbore clearance required
- Reducing-acid chemistry, oxidising-contaminant exclusion, and heat-number certification

Pickling tank & acid-bath hardware
Hastelloy B-2 Socket Head Cap ScrewsB-2 socket screws can secure compact cover blocks near a compatible reducing-acid bath, with access between adjacent pipework. Assess the used liquor and cleaning liquids at the exposed screws: oxidizing contamination can invalidate a selection based on fresh acid alone.
Connection requirements
- Tapped-hole size, thread form, and effective engagement depth
- Head diameter, head height, and socket depth for drive engagement
- Reducing-acid chemistry, oxidising-contaminant exclusion, and heat-number certification

Acid heat exchangers & condensers
Hastelloy B-2 Socket Head Cap ScrewsOn reducing-acid exchanger accessories, B-2 socket screws can secure small covers and recessed mounting blocks. The alloy protects loaded screw surfaces from compatible acid exposure, and the socket head gives access in crowded locations. These are compact equipment fastenings, distinct from the exchanger's main flange studs.
Connection requirements
- Tapped-hole size, thread form, and effective engagement depth
- Head diameter, head height, and counterbore clearance required
- Reducing-acid chemistry, oxidising-contaminant exclusion, and heat-number certification

Hastelloy B-2 material dataHastelloy B-3 Socket Head Cap Screws
Hastelloy B-3 socket head cap screws fasten compact pump and exchanger accessories in strongly reducing acid service. Axial access helps around crowded fittings. Improved thermal stability distinguishes the alloy from B-2 during fabrication; process contaminants still determine whether the finished screw is chemically suitable.
Hastelloy C-276 Socket Head Cap Screws
Hastelloy C-276 socket head cap screws fit compact chemical-pump and delivery-system attachments with restricted wrench access. Corrosion resistance matters at the loaded screw and liquid-retaining drive recess. Axial tooling reaches recessed holes near fittings and manifold hardware.
Hastelloy C-22 Socket Head Cap Screws
Hastelloy C-22 socket head cap screws fit compact chemical-delivery and wet-process mounts exposed to mixed or oxidizing media. Axial access reaches recessed holes near congested piping. For high-purity or chamber locations, finish and cleaning requirements accompany the alloy specification.

Questions about B-2 socket head cap screws
What changes when the screw is stronger than the housing?
The housing thread can strip before the screw reaches its tensile capacity. The engagement depth and housing material therefore belong in the joint assessment alongside the screw’s final strength condition.
