Inconel 625 Socket Head Cap Screws
ISO 4762ASTM B446
Inconel 625 socket head cap screws pair a solid-solution nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with a compact, tapped assembly form for seawater, subsea, and wet-process components that must hold alignment in chloride service. The alloy resists pitting and crevice attack at tapped joints.

Heat Treatment
Annealed or solution annealedFor B446 stock, Grade 1 is annealed and Grade 2 is solution annealed; the higher-temperature solution treatment supports creep resistance rather than age hardening.
What we can make in Alloy 625
Partial thread
Use where a plain grip must span the clamped components. Match the under-head length and thread length so the screw tightens the stack before its thread runout reaches the tapped hole.
Full thread
Use for shorter component stacks and varied tapped-hole depths. The longer usable thread offers adjustment, while the screw end must clear the bottom of a blind hole.

Manufacturing route
CNC machining suits samples and small lots. Cold heading or hot forging is selected for volume production according to alloy formability, head section and size.
Heat treatment & final condition
The final annealed or specified strengthened condition is linked to the lot; an aging treatment is not assumed for a solid-solution alloy.
Finished geometry
Head geometry, bearing face, shank and thread fit are checked after the final machining and thermal operations.
Where 625 fits — and what matters

Seawater pumps
Inconel 625 Socket Head Cap ScrewsCompact seawater-pump covers may require recessed screws reached along their axes. Inconel 625 socket screws combine that access with resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion. This is particularly relevant around the socket recess and under-head contact, where seawater can remain after exposed surfaces have drained.
Connection requirements
- Tapped-hole size, thread form, and effective engagement depth
- Head diameter, head height, and counterbore clearance required
- Seawater exposure, and heat-number certification

Subsea & ROV connections
Inconel 625 Socket Head Cap ScrewsSocket screws suit compact subsea housings and instrument mounts where external-hex tooling would need more room. Inconel 625 provides corrosion resistance for the loaded screw and its recessed drive. The actual ROV or diver tool approach determines whether this head form is practical at the connection.
Connection requirements
- Tapped-hole size, thread form, and effective engagement depth
- Head diameter, head height, and socket depth for drive engagement
- Seawater exposure, access constraints, and heat-number certification
Wet-process auxiliary covers & scrubbers
Inconel 625 Socket Head Cap ScrewsWet-process auxiliary covers expose small fasteners to chemical drips and condensate. Inconel 625 socket screws offer a chloride-resistant fastening option with axial access to recessed cover holes. For harsher process acids, comparing C-276 or C-22 in the same screw form helps separate tool-access needs from chemical compatibility.
Connection requirements
- Tapped-hole size, thread form, and effective engagement depth
- Head diameter, head height, and counterbore clearance required
- Wet chloride exposure, shutdown chemistry, and heat-number certification

Inconel 625 material dataInconel 718 Socket Head Cap Screws
Inconel 718 socket head cap screws put precipitation-hardened strength into highly loaded, counterbored connections on heated test fixtures and compact machinery mounts. The internal drive reaches the screw between adjacent components. They are especially relevant when the hole pattern limits screw diameter and the drawing calls for high strength at the actual operating temperature.
Hastelloy C-276 Socket Head Cap Screws
Hastelloy C-276 socket head cap screws fit compact chemical-pump and delivery-system attachments with restricted wrench access. Corrosion resistance matters at the loaded screw and liquid-retaining drive recess. Axial tooling reaches recessed holes near fittings and manifold hardware.
Monel K-500 Socket Head Cap Screws
Monel K-500 socket head cap screws fit compact marine housings and pump covers where a tool can approach along the screw axis. Age hardening supplies strength in the small fastening envelope, while the nickel-copper alloy suits selected seawater exposure.

Questions about 625 socket head cap screws
What changes when the screw is stronger than the housing?
The housing thread can strip before the screw reaches its tensile capacity. The engagement depth and housing material therefore belong in the joint assessment alongside the screw’s final strength condition.
