Nimonic 80A Hex Nuts
ISO 4032ASTM B637
Nimonic 80A hex nuts pair a precipitation-hardened nickel-chromium alloy with a standard-height mating nut for exhaust, boiler, and heat-exchanger bolt systems. Paired with matching 80A bolts and studs, they support full thread engagement within standard height.

Heat Treatment
Solution treated and agedSolution treatment prepares the alloy for controlled precipitation aging, which develops the strength of the ordered condition.
What we can make in Nimonic 80A
Regular hex
Use on equipment covers and mounting brackets with standard socket access. The compact wrenching envelope is useful where adjacent fasteners or housing walls restrict tool clearance.
Heavy hex
Use on flange-bolting sets and pressure-equipment joints calling for a heavy-hex pattern. The wider bearing footprint and larger wrench size require more seat area and socket clearance than a regular hex nut.
Thin hex
Use in restricted axial spaces or as part of a specified two-nut locking arrangement. Reduced thread engagement means a thin nut is not a direct load-capacity replacement for a full-height nut.

Manufacturing route
Small lots use machined blanks. Volume nut blanks use a forming route compatible with the alloy before machining the bore and tapping.
Heat treatment & final condition
Solution treatment and the specified aging condition are recorded against the production lot; final dimensions are checked after thermal processing.
Finished geometry
Internal thread gauging, usable engagement and bearing-face alignment are checked after final processing.
Where Nimonic 80A fits — and what matters

Exhaust manifolds & expansion bellows
Nimonic 80A Hex NutsRegular hex Nimonic 80A nuts fit compact exhaust flange and bracket connections that need elevated-temperature strength. Their smaller pattern leaves room near manifold branches and adjacent fasteners. The material's precipitation-treated condition supports the hot load while the regular geometry suits the available tooling space.
Connection requirements
- Mating stud diameter, thread form, and thread class
- Nut height, width across flats, and bearing-face condition required
- Temperature range, vibration duty, and heat-number certification

Boiler tube hangers & superheaters
Nimonic 80A Hex NutsOn boiler tube-support rods, Nimonic 80A nuts allow adjustment and retention at the threaded end of a hot support. This is a practical use of the alloy's high-temperature strength. A regular hex pattern can fit confined support brackets while still providing accessible flats for setting the assembly.
Connection requirements
- Mating bolt diameter, thread form, and thread class
- Nut height, width across flats, and bearing-face condition required
- Temperature range, cycling duty, and heat-number certification

Heat-exchanger & reactor covers
Nimonic 80A Hex NutsNimonic 80A hex nuts suit hot cover studs where the design uses a regular nut pattern. They provide an age-hardened, heat-resistant threaded component in a compact envelope. The nut specification establishes the proof load and seating requirements for the exchanger or reactor cover connection.

Same hex nut. Different material priorities.
Nimonic 80A material dataInconel 718 Hex Nuts
Around exhaust manifold branches and crowded valve bonnets, Inconel 718 hex nuts offer precipitation-hardened hot strength without the larger envelope of a heavy nut. The regular pattern preserves a path for maintenance tooling between neighbouring studs. Its specified load capacity completes the pairing with the stud.
Inconel X-750 Hex Nuts
Inconel X-750 hex nuts fit compact exhaust supports, hot covers and selected hanger connections. Precipitation-hardened properties address the hot load, with treatment chosen for temperature and duration. The regular pattern leaves room for tooling around closely spaced brackets and rods.
Nimonic 75 Hex Nuts
Nimonic 75 hex nuts suit compact furnace accessories where oxidation resistance and moderate strength meet the connection requirements. Regular dimensions leave clearance around retort studs and fixture spacers. They provide heat-resistant internal threads without a heavy nut's larger footprint.

Questions about Nimonic 80A hex nuts
Does a matching UNS make the stud and nut a matched set?
Matching chemistry addresses only one part of the order. Nut strength, effective engagement, internal thread fit and surface friction must also suit the stud and assembly tightening method.
