Nimonic 80A Fully threaded stud & nut sets
ASME B18.31.2ASTM B637
A Nimonic 80A stud-and-nut set brings aging-developed strength for loaded hot components to the complete threaded connection. The stud and two nuts retain separate material conditions, thread checks and lot identities within one BOM.

Heat Treatment
Solution treated and agedSolution treatment prepares the alloy for controlled precipitation aging, which develops the strength of the ordered condition.
What we can make in Nimonic 80A
Stud
Finished stud length covers the flange stack, gasket and both nut engagements. Full-length thread permits nut positioning from either end for cover removal and flange assembly.
Nuts
Match nut thread class and proof-load requirements to the stud. Regular and heavy-hex patterns need different socket clearances and bearing footprints around the flange holes.

Manufacturing route
Studs, nuts and washers are manufactured and inspected as separate components before the specified quantities are packed as a set.
Heat treatment & final condition
Solution treatment and the specified aging condition are recorded against the production lot; final dimensions are checked after thermal processing.
Finished geometry
Thread engagement, nut pattern and component grades are checked together. Each component retains its heat or batch identity in the set documentation.
Where Nimonic 80A fits — and what matters

Furnaces & Heat Treatment
Retort and furnace-access coversNimonic 80A fully threaded stud & nut sets supply the stud and two mating nuts for retort and furnace-access covers as one assembly line item. Thread fit, nut pattern and stud length are coordinated before packing. Hot dwell, thermal expansion and repeated furnace cycles set the working load.

Power & Turbines
Hot-gas access covers and inspection closuresNimonic 80A fully threaded stud & nut sets supply the stud and two mating nuts for hot-gas access covers and inspection closures as one assembly line item. Thread fit, nut pattern and stud length are coordinated before packing. Hot dwell and start-stop expansion act on the supported or moving component.

Chemical Processing
Reformer access covers and hot-gas inspection closuresNimonic 80A fully threaded stud & nut sets supply the stud and two mating nuts for reformer access covers and hot-gas inspection closures as one assembly line item. Thread fit, nut pattern and stud length are coordinated before packing. These parts work in the heated equipment zone, where sustained loading and thermal expansion govern their section and clearance.
Same stud & nut set. Different material priorities.
Nimonic 80A material dataIncoloy 800HT
Tightly controlled carbon and Al + Ti for creep duty.
- Connection priority
- Preload shared by the stud and its mating nuts
- N08811 material control
- 800HT tightens the 800-family chemistry around creep performance. Its solution-treated, coarse-grain condition and N08811 identity should remain linked through forming and final acceptance. At the stud threads, two nut engagements and bearing seats, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.
Inconel 718
Precipitation-hardened strength for compact, highly loaded connections.
- Connection priority
- Preload shared by the stud and its mating nuts
- Strength after aging
- Machine-stock properties and final aged properties describe different states. The final heat-treatment lot and mechanical results establish the strength available in the installed part. At the stud threads, two nut engagements and bearing seats, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.
A-286
Aged iron–nickel alloy strength for hot bolting.
- Connection priority
- Preload shared by the stud and its mating nuts
- Grade 660 class
- An ASTM A453 Grade 660 order includes its class and corresponding processing requirements. The alloy name A-286 alone does not identify that acceptance condition. At the stud threads, two nut engagements and bearing seats, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.

Questions about Nimonic 80A fully threaded stud & nut sets
What makes a set traceable rather than simply bagged together?
The stud and each nut lot retain their material and production identities. Component counts, mating thread checks and final conditions are recorded against the set’s BOM.
