Inconel 718 Long-shank flange bolts
ISO 4162ASTM B637
The long grip and integral bearing flange give Inconel 718 bolts two distinct interfaces to control. Precipitation-hardened strength for compact, highly loaded connections must be paired with the required shank length, flange footprint and final condition.

Heat Treatment
Solution treated and agedFor A1014 bolting, solution treatment is followed by precipitation aging to develop the specified high-temperature strength.
What we can make in Alloy 718
Flanged head
Use on deep mounting brackets and thick equipment stacks where a wide head seat distributes the clamp load. Check the flange diameter against casting recesses and nearby ribs before specifying a larger head.
Extended grip
The extended plain grip can span spacers and thick components while the thread engages beyond them. Match grip length to the assembled stack so the nut can reach its seat without stopping at the thread runout.

Manufacturing route
CNC machining suits samples and small batches. Volume heads are formed in a workable condition with the final aging route included in process planning.
Heat treatment & final condition
Solution treatment and the specified aging condition are recorded against the production lot; final dimensions are checked after thermal processing.
Finished geometry
Head geometry, bearing face, shank and thread fit are checked after the final machining and thermal operations.
Where 718 fits — and what matters

Furnaces & Heat Treatment
Heat-treatment fixturesInconel 718 long-shank flange bolts span thick spacers or mounting sections in heat-treatment fixtures, combining an extended grip with a flange bearing face. Hot dwell, thermal expansion and repeated furnace cycles set the working load.

Power & Turbines
Boiler-duct supports and hot auxiliary bracketsInconel 718 long-shank flange bolts span thick spacers or mounting sections in boiler-duct supports and hot auxiliary brackets, combining an extended grip with a flange bearing face. Hot dwell and start-stop expansion act on the supported or moving component.

Chemical Processing
Reformer tube-support and heater fixturesInconel 718 long-shank flange bolts span thick spacers or mounting sections in reformer tube-support and heater fixtures, combining an extended grip with a flange bearing face. These parts work in the heated equipment zone, where sustained loading and thermal expansion govern their section and clearance.
Same long-shank flange bolt. Different material priorities.
Inconel 718 material dataIncoloy 800HT
Tightly controlled carbon and Al + Ti for creep duty.
- Connection priority
- Grip tension and distributed bearing at the flange
- N08811 material control
- 800HT tightens the 800-family chemistry around creep performance. Its solution-treated, coarse-grain condition and N08811 identity should remain linked through forming and final acceptance. At the extended grip and the covered surface under the flange, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.
A-286
Aged iron–nickel alloy strength for hot bolting.
- Connection priority
- Grip tension and distributed bearing at the flange
- Grade 660 class
- An ASTM A453 Grade 660 order includes its class and corresponding processing requirements. The alloy name A-286 alone does not identify that acceptance condition. At the extended grip and the covered surface under the flange, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.
310S
Low-carbon heat resistance in oxidation-exposed equipment.
- Connection priority
- Grip tension and distributed bearing at the flange
- 310S is not 310H
- S31008 is the low-carbon grade. For a component under sustained hot load, distinguish that specification from the controlled-carbon creep purpose of S31009. At the extended grip and the covered surface under the flange, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.

Questions about 718 long-shank flange bolts
Which dimensions keep the flange and long grip working together?
The flange seat fixes one end of the stack; plain grip and runout fix where the threaded section begins. Specify both against the actual stack thickness so the nut tightens on the parts rather than reaching the end of usable thread.
