Inconel 718 Serrated flange nuts
ISO 4161ASTM B637
Inconel 718 serrated flange nuts engage the member directly through their toothed seat. Precipitation-hardened strength for compact, highly loaded connections concerns the nut body; the substrate exposed by the serrations remains part of the same connection.

Heat Treatment
Solution treated; aged when specifiedSolution treatment prepares 718 for forming or machining, and subsequent aging develops the strength required by the ordered condition.
What we can make in Alloy 718
Body height: regular / tall
- Regular height
- Fits compact equipment covers and mounting brackets where clearance above the nut is limited.
- Tall body
- Provides longer thread engagement on clamping studs in jigs, fixtures and machine-tool setups that are tightened and released repeatedly.
Bearing face: plain / serrated
- Plain face
- For painted covers and finished equipment faces where serration marks are unwanted.
- Serrated face
- For metal mounting brackets where teeth can bite directly into the seat to resist rotation.

Manufacturing route
Small lots use machined blanks. Volume nut blanks use a forming route compatible with the alloy before machining the bore and tapping.
Heat treatment & final condition
Solution treatment and the specified aging condition are recorded against the production lot; final dimensions are checked after thermal processing.
Finished geometry
Internal thread gauging, usable engagement and bearing-face alignment are checked after final processing.
Where 718 fits — and what matters

Furnaces & Heat Treatment
Heat-treatment fixturesInconel 718 serrated flange nuts clamp heat-treatment fixtures through a serrated flange that engages the mounting face. The mating surface must accept the serration contact. Hot dwell, thermal expansion and repeated furnace cycles set the working load.

Power & Turbines
Boiler-duct supports and hot auxiliary bracketsInconel 718 serrated flange nuts clamp boiler-duct supports and hot auxiliary brackets through a serrated flange that engages the mounting face. The mating surface must accept the serration contact. Hot dwell and start-stop expansion act on the supported or moving component.

Chemical Processing
Reformer tube-support and heater fixturesInconel 718 serrated flange nuts clamp reformer tube-support and heater fixtures through a serrated flange that engages the mounting face. The mating surface must accept the serration contact. These parts work in the heated equipment zone, where sustained loading and thermal expansion govern their section and clearance.

Inconel 718 material dataIncoloy 800HT
Tightly controlled carbon and Al + Ti for creep duty.
- Connection priority
- Bearing and tooth engagement against the member
- N08811 material control
- 800HT tightens the 800-family chemistry around creep performance. Its solution-treated, coarse-grain condition and N08811 identity should remain linked through forming and final acceptance. At the serration tips and the covered flange seat, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.
A-286
Aged iron–nickel alloy strength for hot bolting.
- Connection priority
- Bearing and tooth engagement against the member
- Grade 660 class
- An ASTM A453 Grade 660 order includes its class and corresponding processing requirements. The alloy name A-286 alone does not identify that acceptance condition. At the serration tips and the covered flange seat, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.
310S
Low-carbon heat resistance in oxidation-exposed equipment.
- Connection priority
- Bearing and tooth engagement against the member
- 310S is not 310H
- S31008 is the low-carbon grade. For a component under sustained hot load, distinguish that specification from the controlled-carbon creep purpose of S31009. At the serration tips and the covered flange seat, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.

Questions about 718 serrated flange nuts
Will serrations preserve a coated bearing surface?
Serrations work by engaging the surface and can break its coating. Include the exposed substrate in the corrosion assessment; the nut’s own alloy cannot protect coating damage underneath it.
