UNS S31603

316L Fully threaded stud & nut sets

ASME B18.31.2

A 316L stud-and-nut set brings molybdenum-bearing stainless performance in wet equipment to the complete threaded connection. The stud and two nuts retain separate material conditions, thread checks and lot identities within one BOM.

Heat Treatment

Solution annealed; cold worked for strengthened conditions

Solution annealing restores a ductile corrosion-resistant structure, while specified cold work raises strength without precipitation aging.

What we can make in 316L

Fully threaded stud between two nuts

Stud

Finished stud length covers the flange stack, gasket and both nut engagements. Full-length thread permits nut positioning from either end for cover removal and flange assembly.

Pair of nuts on the threaded stud

Nuts

Match nut thread class and proof-load requirements to the stud. Regular and heavy-hex patterns need different socket clearances and bearing footprints around the flange holes.

Manufacturing route

Studs, nuts and washers are manufactured and inspected as separate components before the specified quantities are packed as a set.

Heat treatment & final condition

The final annealed or specified strengthened condition is linked to the lot; an aging treatment is not assumed for a solid-solution alloy.

Finished geometry

Thread engagement, nut pattern and component grades are checked together. Each component retains its heat or batch identity in the set documentation.

Food & Beverage Equipment

Washdown pump housings and removable covers

316L fully threaded stud & nut sets supply the stud and two mating nuts for washdown pump housings and removable covers as one assembly line item. Thread fit, nut pattern and stud length are coordinated before packing. Cleaning liquid can remain under the part; exposed finish and access for cleaning matter at the assembled joint.

Water Treatment & Desalination

Filter housings and treatment-pump covers

316L fully threaded stud & nut sets supply the stud and two mating nuts for filter housings and treatment-pump covers as one assembly line item. Thread fit, nut pattern and stud length are coordinated before packing. The water stream, cleaning cycle and retained liquid define exposure at the installed part.

Pumps, Valves & OEM

Pump casings and valve bonnets

316L fully threaded stud & nut sets supply the stud and two mating nuts for pump casings and valve bonnets as one assembly line item. Thread fit, nut pattern and stud length are coordinated before packing. Repeated maintenance makes fit, engagement and access part of the component specification.

316L material data
UNS S17400

17-4 PH

Aging-controlled strength and hardness.

Connection priority
Preload shared by the stud and its mating nuts
H900 versus H1150
The aging condition changes the balance of strength, hardness and toughness. A replacement part needs the specified H condition, especially where contact wear and shock load occur together.

UNS N06625

Inconel 625

Solid-solution strength and resistance to aggressive process liquids.

Connection priority
Preload shared by the stud and its mating nuts
Annealed or solution-annealed 625
The delivery condition affects strength and high-temperature response. Keep the specified condition with the component’s mechanical acceptance; 718-style aging is not the strengthening route for 625. Include liquid retained at the stud threads, two nut engagements and bearing seats in the exposure description.

UNS S31803 / S32205

Duplex 2205

Duplex strength and chloride-corrosion resistance.

Connection priority
Preload shared by the stud and its mating nuts
S31803 or S32205
The specified UNS fixes the chemistry. Solution treatment, section size and the ordered mechanical or corrosion tests establish the final duplex condition. Include liquid retained at the stud threads, two nut engagements and bearing seats in the exposure description.

Questions about 316L fully threaded stud & nut sets

What makes a set traceable rather than simply bagged together?

The stud and each nut lot retain their material and production identities. Component counts, mating thread checks and final conditions are recorded against the set’s BOM.
