Titanium Grade 2 Double-end studs
ASME B18.31.2ASTM B348
A Titanium Grade 2 double-end stud leaves the installed end in the equipment body while the service nut is removed. Its low mass, corrosion resistance and commercially pure titanium formability must cover the trapped body-end interface as well as the exposed end.

What we can make in Titanium Grade 2
Clamping stud
Use for through-bolted covers and housings with access to both nuts. The plain grip spans the joint; independently sized threaded ends accommodate unequal nut-side clearances.
Tap-end stud
Use on valve bonnets and machine housings opened repeatedly for maintenance. The insertion end remains in the body while the outer nut is removed, reducing repeated wear of the housing thread.

Manufacturing route
CNC machining suits samples and special end forms. Repeat lots use cut-to-length stock with rolling or cutting selected for the ordered thread and material condition.
Heat treatment & final condition
Forming and thermal processing require contamination control. The final surface is cleaned before dimensional and material acceptance.
Finished geometry
End lengths, runout and effective thread engagement are checked separately from overall length; tap ends are gauged to their own fit requirement.
Where Titanium Grade 2 fits — and what matters

Chemical Processing
Chemical pump covers and reactor connectionsTitanium Grade 2 double-end studs connect chemical pump covers and reactor connections through a threaded body end and an accessible nut end. The plain shank spans the cover grip. Process liquid can remain at the contact after the exposed surface drains.

Pumps, Valves & OEM
Pump casings and valve bonnetsTitanium Grade 2 double-end studs connect pump casings and valve bonnets through a threaded body end and an accessible nut end. The plain shank spans the cover grip. Repeated maintenance makes fit, engagement and access part of the component specification.

Mining & Mineral Processing
Chemical-recovery pump and vessel coversTitanium Grade 2 double-end studs connect chemical-recovery pump and vessel covers through a threaded body end and an accessible nut end. The plain shank spans the cover grip. Leach solution and deposits act on the installed part; corrosion duty is separate from abrasive wear.
Same double-end stud. Different material priorities.
Titanium Grade 2 material dataHastelloy C-276
Resistance to chemically aggressive, mixed process streams.
- Connection priority
- Tension through the grip and load transfer into the housing
- Process liquid and shutdown chemistry
- C-276 is selected for its nickel–chromium–molybdenum–tungsten chemistry. Residual product, cleaning liquid and oxidising contamination can expose a sheltered connection differently from the main flow. Include liquid retained at the body-end thread inside the tapped housing in the exposure description.
Inconel 625
Solid-solution strength and resistance to aggressive process liquids.
- Connection priority
- Tension through the grip and load transfer into the housing
- Annealed or solution-annealed 625
- The delivery condition affects strength and high-temperature response. Keep the specified condition with the component’s mechanical acceptance; 718-style aging is not the strengthening route for 625. Include liquid retained at the body-end thread inside the tapped housing in the exposure description.
Hastelloy C-22
Corrosion resistance across oxidising and reducing process exposures.
- Connection priority
- Tension through the grip and load transfer into the housing
- Production and cleaning cycles
- C-22’s chromium-bearing chemistry is relevant when chemical exposure changes between operating and cleaning cycles. Include both liquids when comparing it with C-276 or a B-type nickel alloy. Include liquid retained at the body-end thread inside the tapped housing in the exposure description.

Questions about Titanium Grade 2 double-end studs
Can both ends use the same thread designation?
They can, but the body end may require a different fit or engagement from the nut end. Record each end separately, including a different pitch or interference requirement where the equipment drawing uses one.
