Inconel 600 Heavy Hex Nuts
ASME B18.2.2ASTM B166
Inconel 600 heavy hex nuts pair a solid-solution nickel-chromium-iron alloy with a larger bearing face for high-load furnace bolt systems. Paired with matching 600 bolts and studs, they distribute bearing load and support full thread engagement.

What we can make in Alloy 600
Regular hex
Use on equipment covers and mounting brackets with standard socket access. The compact wrenching envelope is useful where adjacent fasteners or housing walls restrict tool clearance.
Heavy hex
Use on flange-bolting sets and pressure-equipment joints calling for a heavy-hex pattern. The wider bearing footprint and larger wrench size require more seat area and socket clearance than a regular hex nut.
Thin hex
Use in restricted axial spaces or as part of a specified two-nut locking arrangement. Reduced thread engagement means a thin nut is not a direct load-capacity replacement for a full-height nut.

Manufacturing route
Small lots use machined blanks. Volume nut blanks use a forming route compatible with the alloy before machining the bore and tapping.
Heat treatment & final condition
The ordered annealed or solution-treated state is retained in the lot record; forming and machining do not replace the specified thermal condition.
Finished geometry
Internal thread gauging, usable engagement and bearing-face alignment are checked after final processing.
Where 600 fits — and what matters

Retort & muffle covers
Inconel 600 Heavy Hex NutsInconel 600 heavy hex nuts accompany retort-cover studs in hot oxidizing service. The heavy pattern provides broad bearing contact and large flats for cover-maintenance tooling. It is useful where the hardware must survive the furnace atmosphere and the cover has room for substantial nuts.
Connection requirements
- Mating stud diameter, thread form, and thread class
- Nut height, width across flats, and bearing-face condition required
- Temperature range, cycling duty, and heat-number certification

Heat shields & furnace linings
Inconel 600 Heavy Hex NutsInconel 600 heavy hex nuts secure lining-support brackets and shield-retaining frames exposed to heat and oxidation. Their broad seats transfer stud loads into substantial support plates. Large wrenching flats provide engagement for maintenance tooling when the shields and lining supports are removed for repair.
Connection requirements
- Mating stud diameter, thread form, and thread class
- Nut height, width across flats, and bearing-face condition required
- Temperature range, cycling duty, and heat-number certification

High-temp refinery & coker flanges
Inconel 600 Heavy Hex NutsAt selected hot refinery cover joints, 600 heavy hex nuts transfer the stud load into the flange bearing surface. They provide a substantial nut pattern in a heat-resistant alloy. Nut proof load and the operating-temperature design establish the permissible load for this assembly.

- Mating stud diameter, thread form, and thread class
- Nut height, width across flats, and bearing-face condition required
- Temperature range, cycling duty, and heat-number certification
Same heavy hex nut. Different material priorities.
Inconel 600 material dataInconel 601 Heavy Hex Nuts
Furnace covers and robust fixture studs expose the nut directly to the hot atmosphere. Inconel 601 heavy hex nuts bring oxidation resistance to those threads and seating faces. Broad flats and a substantial bearing pattern suit support plates and cover spotfaces opened during furnace maintenance.
Incoloy 800 Heavy Hex Nuts
Incoloy 800 heavy hex nuts fit robust retort and furnace-support assemblies with moderate load requirements. Their alloy resists oxidation and carburization, and broad bearing faces suit substantial spotfaces. The heavy pattern provides useful wrench engagement during cover and accessory maintenance.
Hastelloy C-276 Heavy Hex Nuts
Hastelloy C-276 heavy hex nuts carry stud loads at corrosive reactor and exchanger covers. Their broad seating faces suit substantial spotfaces, and the alloy resists attack inside the loaded threads and beneath the nut. The heavy pattern is useful where maintenance tooling has adequate clearance.

Questions about 600 hex nuts
Does a matching UNS make the stud and nut a matched set?
Matching chemistry addresses only one part of the order. Nut strength, effective engagement, internal thread fit and surface friction must also suit the stud and assembly tightening method.
