310S Phillips pan head screws
ISO 7045
310S pan-head screws bring low-carbon heat resistance in oxidation-exposed equipment to panel and cover fixings. The cross recess transfers installation torque while the head footprint spreads load into the panel.

What we can make in 310S
Pan head
Use for panels and covers that can accept a projecting head, avoiding a countersink in thin sheet. The flat underside needs sufficient seat area around the clearance hole.
Phillips drive
Use a matching Phillips type H driver for service and assembly tools. A Pozidriv type Z bit is not the same fit; mismatched recess engagement increases cam-out and head damage.
Machine screw
Use with a tapped boss, nut or threaded insert in equipment panels. Match screw length to the available engagement so a blind hole does not stop the screw before the cover is clamped.

Manufacturing route
CNC machining suits samples and small lots. Cold heading or hot forging is selected for volume production according to alloy formability, head section and size.
Heat treatment & final condition
The ordered annealed or solution-treated state is retained in the lot record; forming and machining do not replace the specified thermal condition.
Finished geometry
The cross recess is checked for tool engagement and concentricity, followed by thread gauging and under-head length inspection.
Where 310S fits — and what matters

Furnaces & Heat Treatment
Furnace shields and casing panels310S phillips pan head screws attach furnace shields and casing panels through a broad pan-head bearing face where a projecting head is acceptable and a cross-recess tool can reach the screw. Hot dwell, thermal expansion and repeated furnace cycles set the working load.

Power & Turbines
Hot-duct shields and thermal baffles310S phillips pan head screws attach hot-duct shields and thermal baffles through a broad pan-head bearing face where a projecting head is acceptable and a cross-recess tool can reach the screw. Hot dwell and start-stop expansion act on the supported or moving component.

Chemical Processing
Process-heater shields and baffles310S phillips pan head screws attach process-heater shields and baffles through a broad pan-head bearing face where a projecting head is acceptable and a cross-recess tool can reach the screw. These parts work in the heated equipment zone, where sustained loading and thermal expansion govern their section and clearance.
Same phillips pan head screw. Different material priorities.
310S material dataIncoloy 800HT
Tightly controlled carbon and Al + Ti for creep duty.
- Connection priority
- Panel clamping and torque transfer through the cross recess
- N08811 material control
- 800HT tightens the 800-family chemistry around creep performance. Its solution-treated, coarse-grain condition and N08811 identity should remain linked through forming and final acceptance. At the cross recess and the underside of the pan head, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.
Inconel 718
Precipitation-hardened strength for compact, highly loaded connections.
- Connection priority
- Panel clamping and torque transfer through the cross recess
- Strength after aging
- Machine-stock properties and final aged properties describe different states. The final heat-treatment lot and mechanical results establish the strength available in the installed part. At the cross recess and the underside of the pan head, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.
A-286
Aged iron–nickel alloy strength for hot bolting.
- Connection priority
- Panel clamping and torque transfer through the cross recess
- Grade 660 class
- An ASTM A453 Grade 660 order includes its class and corresponding processing requirements. The alloy name A-286 alone does not identify that acceptance condition. At the cross recess and the underside of the pan head, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.

Questions about 310S phillips pan head screws
What controls installation on a thin panel?
The panel’s bearing strength and the engaged thread can govern before the screw’s tensile strength. Match the head footprint and driver recess to the tightening method and the actual panel or insert.
