310S Eye-end / swing bolts
DIN 444
310S swing bolts combine a pivoting cover clamp with low-carbon heat resistance in oxidation-exposed equipment. Eye-to-pin fit and the nut-bearing arrangement define the closed connection and its maintenance travel.

What we can make in 310S
Pivot eye
Use on hinged clamps and access covers that open frequently. The eye stays on a pivot pin so the bolt swings clear of the cover slot without removing the complete fastener.
Threaded clamp
The threaded leg sets the clamp opening and tightening travel. On a slotted cover, the nut or clamping handle needs a bearing face wide enough to bridge the slot.
Swing bolt vs lifting eye
Use a swing bolt to retain and tighten a cover; specify a rated lifting component for hoisting. The pivot eye dimensions alone do not establish an allowable lifting load.

Manufacturing route
CNC machining suits samples and small lots. Cold heading or hot forging is selected for volume production according to alloy formability, head section and size.
Heat treatment & final condition
The ordered annealed or solution-treated state is retained in the lot record; forming and machining do not replace the specified thermal condition.
Finished geometry
Head geometry, bearing face, shank and thread fit are checked after the final machining and thermal operations.
Where 310S fits — and what matters

Furnaces & Heat Treatment
Retort and furnace-access covers310S eye-end / swing bolts pivot into and out of the closures on retort and furnace-access covers, allowing the clamp to release without removing the bolt from its hinge pin. Hot dwell, thermal expansion and repeated furnace cycles set the working load.

Power & Turbines
Hot-gas access covers and inspection closures310S eye-end / swing bolts pivot into and out of the closures on hot-gas access covers and inspection closures, allowing the clamp to release without removing the bolt from its hinge pin. Hot dwell and start-stop expansion act on the supported or moving component.

Chemical Processing
Reformer access covers and hot-gas inspection closures310S eye-end / swing bolts pivot into and out of the closures on reformer access covers and hot-gas inspection closures, allowing the clamp to release without removing the bolt from its hinge pin. These parts work in the heated equipment zone, where sustained loading and thermal expansion govern their section and clearance.
Same eye-end / swing bolt. Different material priorities.
310S material dataIncoloy 800HT
Tightly controlled carbon and Al + Ti for creep duty.
- Connection priority
- Pivot contact and tension during cover clamping
- N08811 material control
- 800HT tightens the 800-family chemistry around creep performance. Its solution-treated, coarse-grain condition and N08811 identity should remain linked through forming and final acceptance. At the eye bore around its pivot and the nut-bearing seat, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.
Inconel 718
Precipitation-hardened strength for compact, highly loaded connections.
- Connection priority
- Pivot contact and tension during cover clamping
- Strength after aging
- Machine-stock properties and final aged properties describe different states. The final heat-treatment lot and mechanical results establish the strength available in the installed part. At the eye bore around its pivot and the nut-bearing seat, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.
A-286
Aged iron–nickel alloy strength for hot bolting.
- Connection priority
- Pivot contact and tension during cover clamping
- Grade 660 class
- An ASTM A453 Grade 660 order includes its class and corresponding processing requirements. The alloy name A-286 alone does not identify that acceptance condition. At the eye bore around its pivot and the nut-bearing seat, the relevant metal temperature can differ from the process or furnace set point.

Questions about 310S eye-end / swing bolts
Is this the same as a rated lifting eye bolt?
This page covers swing-bolt cover and clamp connections. A lifting device needs a separately defined design, load rating and certification; DIN 444 geometry alone does not provide those.
