Inconel 625 Stud, nut & washer sets
ASME B18.31.2ASTM B446
Inconel 625 stud, nut and washer sets carry the connection from tensile member to bearing surface. Solid-solution strength and resistance to aggressive process liquids must be matched by suitable nut engagement and washer bearing strength.

Heat Treatment
Annealed or solution annealedFor B446 stock, Grade 1 is annealed and Grade 2 is solution annealed; the higher-temperature solution treatment supports creep resistance rather than age hardening.
What we can make in Alloy 625
Stud
Include both washers when calculating the clamped stack and usable stud projection. Their thickness can change the stud length needed to engage both nuts.
Nuts
Pair the nut grade, proof load and thread fit with the stud for the intended clamp load. Heavy-hex nuts also need enough radial clearance for the installation socket.
Washers
Use washers to provide the specified bearing footprint or replaceable seating surface. Bore clearance must accommodate the stud, while thickness must support the opening beneath the washer.

Manufacturing route
Studs, nuts and washers are manufactured and inspected as separate components before the specified quantities are packed as a set.
Heat treatment & final condition
The final annealed or specified strengthened condition is linked to the lot; an aging treatment is not assumed for a solid-solution alloy.
Finished geometry
Thread engagement, nut pattern and component grades are checked together. Each component retains its heat or batch identity in the set documentation.
Where 625 fits — and what matters

Chemical Processing
Chemical pump covers and reactor connectionsInconel 625 stud, nut & washer sets bring the studs, mating nuts and specified bearing washers together for chemical pump covers and reactor connections. The washer stack is included in the required usable stud length. Process liquid can remain at the contact after the exposed surface drains.

Pumps, Valves & OEM
Pump casings and valve bonnetsInconel 625 stud, nut & washer sets bring the studs, mating nuts and specified bearing washers together for pump casings and valve bonnets. The washer stack is included in the required usable stud length. Repeated maintenance makes fit, engagement and access part of the component specification.

Mining & Mineral Processing
Chemical-recovery pump and vessel coversInconel 625 stud, nut & washer sets bring the studs, mating nuts and specified bearing washers together for chemical-recovery pump and vessel covers. The washer stack is included in the required usable stud length. Leach solution and deposits act on the installed part; corrosion duty is separate from abrasive wear.
Same stud, nut & washer set. Different material priorities.
Inconel 625 material dataHastelloy C-276
Resistance to chemically aggressive, mixed process streams.
- Connection priority
- Stud tension, nut engagement and washer bearing
- Process liquid and shutdown chemistry
- C-276 is selected for its nickel–chromium–molybdenum–tungsten chemistry. Residual product, cleaning liquid and oxidising contamination can expose a sheltered connection differently from the main flow. Include liquid retained at the stud–nut threads and both washer-bearing interfaces in the exposure description.
Hastelloy C-22
Corrosion resistance across oxidising and reducing process exposures.
- Connection priority
- Stud tension, nut engagement and washer bearing
- Production and cleaning cycles
- C-22’s chromium-bearing chemistry is relevant when chemical exposure changes between operating and cleaning cycles. Include both liquids when comparing it with C-276 or a B-type nickel alloy. Include liquid retained at the stud–nut threads and both washer-bearing interfaces in the exposure description.
Titanium Grade 2
Low mass, corrosion resistance and commercially pure titanium formability.
- Connection priority
- Stud tension, nut engagement and washer bearing
- Commercially pure titanium
- Grade 2 favours corrosion resistance and forming characteristics over the higher strength of Grade 5. Mating-metal contact, surface condition and assembly friction remain part of the connection design. Include liquid retained at the stud–nut threads and both washer-bearing interfaces in the exposure description.

Questions about 625 stud, nut & washer sets
Can all components be accepted from the stud certificate?
Each component has its own job and material lot. The nut needs thread and strength acceptance, and the washer needs bearing geometry and the ordered condition; retain those records with the stud’s documentation.
