Monel 400 Hex flange bolts
ISO 4162ASTM B164
An integral flange spreads the bearing load of a Monel 400 bolt. Nickel–copper corrosion resistance in seawater and selected chemicals addresses the service exposure; plain or serrated seating determines contact with the supported surface.

Heat Treatment
Annealed; cold worked for higher strengthAnnealing restores ductility after working, while the specified amount of cold work sets higher-strength conditions without aging.
What we can make in Monel 400
Integral flange
Use on mounting brackets and equipment covers to distribute head load over a wider seat and reduce loose parts during assembly. The flange needs a flat landing clear of nearby walls and radii.
Plain bearing face
Choose a plain underside for finished or coated seats where teeth would mark the surface. It also permits controlled sliding at the head-seat interface during tightening.
Flange vs loose washer
An integral flange speeds repeated assembly by keeping the bearing surface with the bolt. Retain a separate washer when the joint needs a replaceable wear face or a specifically hardened bearing layer.

Manufacturing route
CNC machining suits samples and small lots. Cold heading or hot forging is selected for volume production according to alloy formability, head section and size.
Heat treatment & final condition
The final annealed or specified strengthened condition is linked to the lot; an aging treatment is not assumed for a solid-solution alloy.
Finished geometry
Head geometry, bearing face, shank and thread fit are checked after the final machining and thermal operations.
Where 400 fits — and what matters

Offshore & Marine
Deck-equipment brackets and marine pump skidsMonel 400 hex flange bolts clamp deck-equipment brackets and marine pump skids through an integral flange that spreads head load over the mounting face. The assembled contact is exposed to saltwater, deposits and neighbouring metals.

Water Treatment & Desalination
Membrane-skid and pump supportsMonel 400 hex flange bolts clamp membrane-skid and pump supports through an integral flange that spreads head load over the mounting face. The water stream, cleaning cycle and retained liquid define exposure at the installed part.

Oil & Gas
Utility skids and instrument supportsMonel 400 hex flange bolts clamp utility skids and instrument supports through an integral flange that spreads head load over the mounting face. Utility connections and pressure-boundary parts have separate acceptance requirements on the equipment drawing.
Same hex flange bolt. Different material priorities.
Monel 400 material dataInconel 625
Solid-solution strength and resistance to aggressive process liquids.
- Connection priority
- Clamp load spread over the integral flange
- Annealed or solution-annealed 625
- The delivery condition affects strength and high-temperature response. Keep the specified condition with the component’s mechanical acceptance; 718-style aging is not the strengthening route for 625. Include liquid retained at the broad flange underside and its edge against the member in the exposure description.
Super Duplex 2507
Super-duplex strength and resistance to chloride pitting.
- Connection priority
- Clamp load spread over the integral flange
- Final duplex structure
- S32750 chemistry and final solution treatment belong together. Forming, section size and cooling affect the structure represented by the mechanical and corrosion records. Include liquid retained at the broad flange underside and its edge against the member in the exposure description.
Monel K-500
Age-hardened strength in the nickel–copper alloy family.
- Connection priority
- Clamp load spread over the integral flange
- Strength and hydrogen exposure
- K-500 gains strength through aging. Cathodic protection, hydrogen exposure and the ordered condition need joint consideration in highly loaded marine components. Include liquid retained at the broad flange underside and its edge against the member in the exposure description.

Questions about 400 hex flange bolts
Can the flange replace a separate washer?
Only when its bearing footprint and the supported surface meet the assembly requirement. A serrated seat can damage a coating, while a thin or slotted member may need a different bearing arrangement.
