Finished boltASTM F593Alloy Group 7 · Type 630 / S17400 · AH · inch series

The finished part must satisfy the specified F593 AH processing and properties; do not infer them from any A564 aging condition. Scope: nominal 1/4–1-1/2 in.; this is not a metric specification. Identify the exact alloy, condition and edition.

H900 and F593 AH are not interchangeable callouts. A1082/A1082M also lists S17400 for special-purpose bolting; select that separate route only with its grade/condition and A962 requirements.

Raw material specificationASTM A564/A564M Type 630UNS S17400

S17400 · bar, wire and shapes

State the final aging condition, e.g. H900 or H1150, and required condition-specific properties.

Dimensions · metricISO 4014 / ISO 4017Coarse pitch · partial-thread bolts / full-thread hex screws

Select head width s, height k and thread length b. These are dimensional references here; other alloys do not automatically conform to the full steel/stainless product standard. Fine-pitch geometry needs a separate drawing or applicable standard.

Dimensions · inchASME B18.2.1Inch hex bolts / hex cap screws

Select the bolt or cap-screw pattern, head dimensions and thread length. Hex and heavy hex are different choices.

Threads · metricISO 261 / ISO 965-1Metric M · pitch plan and tolerance system

State diameter × pitch and external tolerance class, e.g. M12 × 1.75–6g. Fine pitch must be written explicitly; 6g is a thread tolerance, not a strength grade.

Threads · UNC / UNFASME B1.1Unified inch · coarse / fine series

State diameter, TPI, series and external class: e.g. 1/2-13 UNC-2A or 1/2-20 UNF-2A. Select 2A / 3A with the mating-thread fit; UNC and UNF do not mate.

Solution treated, then aged at 482°C (900°F).

Reference condition from material data. The ordered condition is agreed in your quotation.

Before production and at delivery

During quotation, a redacted certificate from a previous order can show the document format and recorded tests. It is a historical example, not certification of this product or a new order. Shipment documents must correspond to the material and batch actually supplied.

Aging designation

S17400 and the exact H condition required by the specification.

Prevents different aging conditions being quoted as the same product.

Design trade-off

Strength, toughness, environment and project hardness restrictions.

Supports selection of the required condition rather than maximum hardness alone.

Treatment evidence

Final aging record, mechanical reports and specified hardness results.

Verifies the condition of the supplied lot, not only the stock chemistry.

Technical help

Does H900 stock satisfy F593 AH bolt requirements?

H900 and F593 AH are different callouts. F593 Group 7 identifies Type 630 with its specified AH processing and finished properties. Select the required final condition instead of assuming any aged A564 stock condition satisfies that route.

Which alternative bolting route should I review for 17-4 PH?

A1082/A1082M also lists S17400 for special-purpose bolting with A962/A962M requirements. Choose the governing route, exact condition and unit system. Keep H900, H1150 or other drawing requirements explicit throughout quotation and inspection.

Examples explain designations, not available sizes. Specify fine pitch explicitly. UNC and UNF do not mate; full or partial threading is a separate choice.
