Material Test Documentation
A material document identifies the material and reports results for the scope it covers. Check the issuer, heat or lot references, ordered specification and delivery condition.
EN 10204 Type 3.1
EN 10204 defines inspection document types. Type 3.1 is not the name of a test or automatic third-party approval. Ask for the document type and issuer appropriate to the agreed supply scope.
Positive Material Identification
PMI helps verify material identity using a suitable analytical method. It does not on its own establish all mechanical properties or heat-treatment compliance. The required elements, method, coverage and report should be stated.
Finished-Part Inspection
A raw material certificate does not automatically cover the dimensions, threads or properties affected by subsequent processing. Discuss finished-part records and traceability before the order is confirmed.
What to Ask For
Identify the documents your quality team needs, what each must show and whether third-party witnessing is required. Agree sampling and acceptance criteria for every inspection characteristic.
