Start with the Latest Revision
Provide the drawing number and revision separately from the file name. Identify which drawing applies to each BOM line. If you do not have a drawing, start with the dimensions, photographs and specification you have; we will clarify what is missing.
Separate the Standards
State material, dimensional and finished-product requirements separately. A material designation does not define the complete fastener specification. Include the standard number and revision, material condition and any class requirements.
Give Each Item Its Own Line
Use a separate line for each form, grade, size and quantity. Quantities can start at one piece; for raw materials, specify the weight or length and unit. Leave undecided details marked to be confirmed.
Define Inspection and Timing
Identify documents, methods, sampling and acceptance criteria before production. Clarify whether your desired date is arrival or dispatch, and include the destination. Production time and shipping time are separate.

- Quantity and unit; matching nuts or washers if required.
- Inspection, document and witness-point requirements.
- Destination and the meaning of the required date.
